CRL Chesterfield are currently completing the works to Swinton Flats in Rotherham South Yorkshire, which comprise the repairs to the hollow core plank floor slab to 9nr blocks of flats. The Chesterfield team bid against several contractors for the project, some of which eventually pulled out of pricing the scheme due to the difficult and challenging nature of the works.
These works were based on a 42-week programme duration. We are on programme despite the numerous challenges that had to be overcome with regards the access, working in confined spaces, dealing with asbestos, installing forced ventilation and the changes in materials.
Our works involve removing all defective concrete, preparing the steel, and coating with Sika repair products. The repair is then built up in thicknesses as detailed on the product datasheets and finished off to a smooth finish. The rest of the area is then protected using SikaGard FerroGard 903 and then coat with SikaGard 706 Thixo.
