CRL are proud to have recently achieved Highways Passport Silver status for ensuring all their Highways workforce have a Highways Passport and, where relevant, they have also completed the Highways Common Induction.

Passport is a powerful online database linked to a secure individual smartcard which is kept up to date by the individuals and their employers. Therefore, this system helps ensure that everyone working on highways projects are competent and trained to a consistent standard. Workers carry their record with them as they travel across the highways supply chain, which will also bring collaborative benefits, helping to streamline onboarding, inductions, work planning and SHEQ inspections.

We have also been working with our own supply chain to get their employees up to a similar level so there are no negative effects experienced when we mandate everyone working on our Highways schemes (those where National Highways are the client) to carry their passport, expected from 1st July 2023.
Thereafter we will review other passport functionality to assess how we can utilise the system to streamline our other processes and plan staged implementation thereof.

In summary this system offers a wealth of corporate benefit that will save time and money whilst helping improve safety.
