CRL was recently awarded the contract to carry out the concrete repairs to Fenny Stratford Canal Bridge which is located just south of Milton Keynes in Buckinghamshire. The scheme is to carry out repairs to the spalling concrete to the underside, abutments and external faces of the bridge using Fosroc materials.

The bridge, constructed for Buckinghamshire County Council circa 1927 using cast in-situ reinforced concrete is a single span structure bridging the Grand Union canal. Failure of the deck waterproofing system and low cover to reinforcement has allowed water and chloride ingress, which has led to reinforcement corrosion and spalling.

Access to the repair areas over the canal is via a modular pontoon system and the existing towpath. To overcome the cold winter conditions the works area is sheeted and heated using 110V 32-amp heaters. On this project we are working alongside Ringway to meet the requirements of the Borough of Milton Keynes.
