CRL Scotland have been engaged with Mackenzie Construction since 2019 carrying out critical infrastructure maintenance work on various Scottish Water assets including tanks and reservoirs. This relationship continues to grow with the Falkirk office having a near continuous stream of work on Scottish Water sites.

CRL have established a good working relationship with Mackenzie over the last few years with the company ascertaining numerous satisfactory reports. It is acknowledged that health and safety, whether that be from Scottish Water (DOMS/EUSR) or direct from the PC, is held to the highest regard onsite given the nature of the works being carried out.

At present, the majority of projects are undertaken on clean water tanks with the scope being waterproofing and concrete repair focussed. However, on numerous occasions this drastically changed which prompted quick and effective liaison between all parties to provide remedial action. One project in particular is Lochend DSR (November –present) which required a complete new screed to the tank roof, doubling the project value.

At a time of material shortages and imminent bad weather, the planning of the application was crucial to the success of the project. Scheduled deliveries and increased resources were realised to tackle the logistical hurdles posed with the site team completing 580m2 including 2 gullies in just under 3 weeks.

It was understood that CRL adapted well and communicated efficiently with suppliers to achieve promising results. Screeding works are now complete with the aim to return after winter to finish waterproofing and over-banding.

Additionally, CRL have become well rehearsed in the application of over-banding works with our core team of 6 operatives achieving up to 120m in one day. This has been recognised by Mackenzie and further contributes to our successful and healthy relationship.
