9 Carmelite Street
no. 9 Carmelite Street in London is a Grade II listed commercial building which was constructed in the late nineteenth century. It comprises of red brick with stone dressings in Tudor Gothic style. It is noted for several memorials, such as the Battle of Britain Monument, permanently berthed retired vessels, such as HMS President, and its public gardens, including Victoria Embankment Gardens.

Equilux was recently awarded a £900k project from Restore London to carry out various electrical and lighting works on the building. Restore London are carrying out a full internal and external refurbishment.

The works comprise the installation of a new under floor metal containment system and complete new electrical cabling for the whole building. Additionally all the trunking in the building will be renewed and all the lighting and power circuits will be rewired. This was deemed the most economical solution as it will provide more than 25 years (hopefully maintenance free!) life to the infrastructure.

Additional works comprise the fire and security alarm works which are in the pipeline waiting to be approved. We also have proposed a more robust system for the boiler replacement in order to provide support to the currently proposed arrangement.

The programme is tight at 36 weeks, and we are looking to finish in June’23.
